Description
This NY based jazz piano trio tells its story through a unique blend of contemporary jazz, classical, and world music sounds. Soulful melodies alongside virtuoso improvisations by these seasoned musicians
Notes
Sometimes we are focused on one direction, a specific goal, yet end up with something
else entirely, with a different appreciation altogether. Aiming for one end result can lead to
places we might have not found otherwise. I was on one of those focused paths.
It was a project of writing music books for piano students. It was light and functional writing, with
a clear purpose: enjoyable, simple piano repertoire that early piano students can
play in addition to method, theory and technique books. Simple motifs, repetitions, and small
intervals to make the music accessible.
But some other tunes started emerging that didn't quite fit with the first books in the series.
Still from the same simple place of writing for piano students,
the new music felt different. I liked it. It was hard for me to define the style, but I just went with it.
Even though the compositions were very simple melodically and rhythmically, I felt that the harmonies
were interesting and really captured a part of my musical essence. As an improviser, I felt
that I had to do more with these compositions, and decided to record them with other musicians and
explore them further.
I share with you this album born of deviation, an incidental creation. (Dror P)
