Biography
Ruben San

Born, Ruben Arrollo, December 7 1976 in Rio Piedras Puerto Rico.

His interest in music was born in early stages of his life but became apparent when he started to sing with the radio to the beat of other artists. He was influenced primarily by Vico C, and Public Enemy among other’s. He worked in music through school with DJ Charlie, a friend from school. Ruben used to record at a karaoke in Charlie’s house every afternoon.
Not long after that he recorded for a famous street DJ, Herbert in the hottest mix tape at the time.
Ruben entered José Julian Acosta’s school for gifted students. He performed Vico C’s “La Recta Final” at his audition. He passed with flying colors.
His professional career started in 1992 when he recorded in Playero’38 where he was part of the Playero DREAM TEAM.That was were Daddy yankee started also, and both of them participated on songs and promotional videos making Ruben San one of the best. That’s when he recorded his first hit single:” No me Importa”. Afterwards he became part of the small group of artist to record in almost every reggaetton album at the time. Making more hit singles than most of his fellow artist, and recording for more than 40 albums .Some of his hit singles have been sampled by other artist on promo cuts like Taladro by Eddie dee Ft. Daddy Yankee.

In 1993 Ruben San sang at Mad Lion’s Concert. This was the first time a reggaetton act became the opening for a full blown concert in Puerto Rico. Making him one of the best live performers in the bussiness. (many visuals and videos to prove it!!)
In 1998 Ruben took a short break from music and it wasn’t until 2002 when he made his comeback to record in: Veteranos Collection; a collection of artists from the beginning of the genre with songs that had already been hits and new songs from the artists. This particular recording was made by Luney Tunes though The Benjamin’s Records, and in 21 CREW vol 1 where he shined among the best.
Today Ruben is working in his first solo album called “El Blaka”. He has gathered a very powerful group of producers and singers in this production.

Ruben San is one of the very short list of veterans that is still hits all the radio stations in Puerto rico and all latin america. His knowledge of reggaetton and his ability to work reside any artist has become legend.
